What are the benefits of battery storage in Scotland?

Combining solar panels with battery storage allows you to maximise the energy you generate and use more of your own electricity — even when the sun isn’t shining. For Scottish homes, this creates a smarter, more resilient energy solution.

What happens to solar I generate when not using it when fitting a battery?

Without a battery, unused solar power is sent back to the grid. A battery stores that excess energy so you can use it later in the evening or at night, increasing your self-consumption and savings.

Can I use my battery to power my home in a power cut?

Yes you can, however additional work is required to be done no make this work safely.

Can I charge my battery at off-peak times if i have an EV tariff?

Yes you can charge it using an EV tariff, meaning you can charge the battery for as little at 6p per KW meaning you do not have to use power from the grid at peak times costing much more e.g 27p per KW saving you more money.

Do I need to have solar to fit a battery?

No you can charge it using an EV tariff, meaning you can charge the battery for as little at 6p per KW meaning you do not have to use power from the grid at peak times costing much more e.g 27p per KW saving you more money.
